Dress just in time for summer.

This is my latest project finished for work. It`s a lovely voile dress just in time for summer. I used Butterick 6167. The nice part with this pattern is that it came with varying cup sizes because as we all know, all girls are different sizes. The dress does have boning in it to add structure, which is nice with such a lightweight fabric, and this was the easiest time I`ve had installing it.
With this dress I`m getting much better at fitting clothing to myself all by myself. Although I still dream of getting a dress form, I`m glad that I`m better at getting that perfect fit on the first try. The only sad part is that is has to be on display for a month before I get to wear it. I`m sure time will pass quickly as soon as I get started on whatever my next project will be.

Foxy overnight bag

This is my latest project. An overnight bag with multiple pockets. I used a pattern from ByAnnie.com. It turned out beautifully though i was worried for my sewing machine with all the bulk in some of the seams. Next time I'd use a thinner fleece for a stabilizer. Now I just have to decide if I want keep it for myself or if it's going to be a gift.

RIP trusty iron

My trusty iron that I've had for the last 3 years has passed away. I was using it to work on my lastest dress when it wouldn't heat up. So needless to say it was a last minute trip to the store to get a new one. It's not surprising considering how much I use it for all my sewing. It lasted longer than some of my mother's high end irons. Goodbye iron. I will miss you.

Robert Kaufman challenge

I've finished a challenge given by my guild. I had to make a mini quilt using inspiration from a traditional block. I chose one called "card trick", as seen in the upper left corner. I've always wanted to do a sampler so I took this opportunity to make one on a small scale.

Ferret Monster Comes Home

I went away last weekend for an awesome road trip with my mother in law and this is what came home with me. We stopped at a cute, little quilt shop in Armstrong, BC, where I found these fabrics on sale and a couple other goodies. The next day we were in Vernon. It was there I found a new addition to my family. Egon is 3 months old and he's getting along quite well with our other 3 ferrets.

I've started working on a quilt top from a new book I got, "Beyond Neutrals" by John Q. Adams. This is the first square. Only 29 more to go.
